Hailey Bieber Keeps Rewearing the Same New Balance Sneakers, and a Podiatrist Says That's a Good Thing
Hailey Bieber doesn't rotate through sneakers the way she does the rest of her closet. Here's why the New Balance styles she keeps reaching for have a podiatrist's approval to back them up.

Hailey Bieber doesn't rotate through sneakers the way she does the rest of her closet. Spotted again and again in New Balance over the past year, she's leaned hardest on the 740 style, along with the 550 and 530, pairing them with everything from a workout set to a barn jacket to a sheer cashmere top. The common thread isn't the outfit. It's the sneaker underneath it.
She's far from the only famous fan. Jennifer Aniston, Meghan Markle, and Scarlett Johansson have all been photographed in New Balance over the years, which reads less like a coincidence than a pattern. The brand has built its reputation less on hype than on comfort, the kind of silhouette that works as hard in a parking lot as it does on a long-haul flight.
That comfort isn't just a vibe. Podiatrist Dr. Megan Ishibashi has pointed to the 574 style in particular, citing its cushioned midsole for absorbing shock and impact and praising its arch support, the kind of design detail that lets someone stay on their feet for hours without their feet staging a protest by the end of the day.
The rest of the lineup covers different needs. The 237 trades the brand's usual chunky dad-shoe silhouette for a slimmer, retro-leaning exterior while keeping a supportive sole underneath. The 530 looks dressy enough in leather to pass as a regular sneaker, but holds up fine as a training shoe too. And the 990v6, the brand's longest-running classic, has built its reputation the old-fashioned way, logging thousands of miles on travelers who swear by it for exactly that reason.
None of this requires picking a single best pair. Bieber's own rotation makes the case for keeping a few on hand instead: one for errands, one that can survive a workout, and one simply because it matches absolutely everything, which is probably the actual secret to a sneaker becoming a celebrity's uniform in the first place.
